HX5-9haLite: an inexpensive 2.5G ONT with Hi5682V200 and USB 3.0

The HX5-9haLite is a China Mobile ONT that ACWiFi bought for about 25 CNY, with four network ports including one 2.5G port and two USB 3.0 ports. A low price does not mean plug-and-play: PON registration, LOID, and carrier firmware remain the main constraints.¹

Recorded hardware

The adapter is 12V/1A and idle power is about 3.6 W. Internally, the unit uses W25N02KV SLC QSPI NAND with 256 MB, a HiSilicon Hi5682V200 CPU, and memory that the source identifies as 512 MB DDR4. The 2.5G PHY is YT8821C and the 10G optical PHY is GN3361.¹

There are two USB 3.0 ports, one on the rear and one on the side. They may be useful for fans or peripherals, but the source does not prove that stock firmware supports every USB device or that an external fan is required.¹

LOID and line compatibility

The interface includes a Logical ID page; the source reports that entering a LOID registered the unit and that the sample worked on a China Unicom connection. That only proves the tested conditions, not that every OLT, GPON/XG-PON profile, VLAN, or ISP accepts the same registration method.¹

Before replacing a carrier ONT, verify the PON type, serial/LOID requirements, Internet/VoIP/IPTV VLANs, bridge mode, management access, and ISP policy. Never put a real LOID, serial number, or subscriber detail in a post or Git repository.¹

Practical conclusion

The HX5-9haLite is notable for its low price, 256 MB flash, large memory, and 2.5G/USB 3.0 ports. The teardown does not establish firmware completeness, security, NAND endurance, or unlockability. I would treat it as an experiment only after keeping the original modem and a rollback path.¹
