TP-Link 7DR6430: Realtek Hardware, Four 5 GHz Streams, and the K-Point Test

The TL-7DR6430 is a Wi‑Fi 7 sample that ACWiFi disassembled and tested at its K point. The interesting part is not only the BE7200 label, but the way Realtek combines the CPU, Wi‑Fi-acceleration PEs, 5 GHz FEMs, and one 2.5G port in this chassis.1

Design and platform

The measured unit weighed 441 g without the protective film and 447 g with it; the complete package weighed 932 g. The adapter is 12V/1.5A and idle power was 6 W. The rear has one 2.5G port and three Gigabit ports; six antennas serve the two bands in the source's “pixel antenna” design.

The CPU is RTL8198ET/RTL8198E, a dual-core 1.2 GHz A55 part with three RISC‑V PEs for Wi‑Fi acceleration. Boot information reports 512 MB of integrated DDR3. 2.4 GHz uses RTL8192XBR 2x2, up to 574 Mbps at 40 MHz/1024-QAM, without a separate external 2.4 GHz FEM. The 2.5G PHY is RTL8221B.

The 5 GHz radio is RTL8934TR, with 4T5R support, a 4x4 baseband, and up to 5765 Mbps at 160 MHz/4096-QAM. Four 5 GHz FEMs are KCT8531HE; the fifth receive path uses the MXD7522 LNA. Flash is DS35Q1GB-IB, with 128 MB capacity. In short, “Wi‑Fi 7” belongs to the 5 GHz radio, while the CPU/PE design and switch determine how traffic performs in practice.

Forwarding and K point

PacketMaster with 64-byte packets filled the Gigabit path: WAN-to-LAN reached 1.488 Mpps and the bidirectional test reached the same result. Since the router has only one 2.5G port, the source does not turn this into a guarantee for every 2.5G path or QoS mode.

At the K point, ACWiFi used phones and fixed 5 GHz to channel 44; some results used another measurement app because the author's speedtest app was unavailable in that context. The highlighted 5 GHz measurements put Xiaomi 10 above 400 Mbps and iPhone 16 around 700 Mbps. The firmware defaults to 802.11k/v, MU-MIMO, and beamforming.

Software and practical meaning

The source lists game acceleration, behavior control, remote wake, SD‑VPN, and authenticated access. The price at the time was about 199 yuan; based on the hardware and K-point result, the author considered the value strong.

I do not turn the “AI engineer” wording on the antenna packaging into a coverage number, and I do not infer OpenWrt support from the chip names. When buying another revision, check the TL-7DR6430 label, hardware version, firmware, and port count; later batches can use a different BOM.

Teardown limits

The source reports power, chip, and forwarding measurements, but it is not a long-duration test. It does not cover every multi-stream direction, sustained-load thermals, VLAN behavior, or compatibility with every Wi‑Fi 7 client. A fixed K point is not a multi-floor coverage model.

Conclusion

The 7DR6430 has a clear Realtek layout: RTL8198E plus three PEs, a 4x4 RTL8934TR 5 GHz radio, four KCT8531HE FEMs, RTL8221B PHY, and 128 MB flash. The 1.488 Mpps result and strong K-point numbers explain its appeal at the source's price, but the buying decision still depends on the 2.5G port, firmware, and actual workload.
