TL-AC100 v6.0: A Practical Teardown and Comparison

ACWiFi opened a TL-AC100 v6.0 to compare it with v5.0. The tested unit has five gigabit ports, a 9V/0.6A supply, and measured consumption of about 2.3 W with one port connected and 4.2 W with all five connected.

Hardware

The snapshot identifies an RTL8198D dual-core 900 MHz CPU, 256 MB integrated memory, and a 16 MB XM25QH128CHIQ flash chip. The gigabit PHY is YT8531SC and the power controller is OB2500NCP. These observations apply to the inspected sample, not automatically to every production batch.

Practical meaning

AC100 v6 targets AP management and has a redesigned UI with client counts grouped by signal strength. When paired with compatible EasyMesh/TP-Link equipment, the feature must be enabled and APs authorized in the UI. A dedicated controller may not be worthwhile for a small home deployment.
